The Return of Royal Enfield: How Moto-Royale Sparked a New Era in South African Motorcycling
Whilst Moto-Royale would like to claim it brought Royal Enfield to South Africa after years of corporate planning, strategy, and engagement, the seed that grew into Royal Enfield firmly establishing its roots within the South African market is more humble, human, and as endearing as the brand itself.
A Chance Encounter That Sparked a Movement
Without getting philosophical about fate or chance, let’s rather say by coincidence, divine or not, Sabrina had a friend who swiped right on Tinder and Adam swiped right on said friend. At a dinner in Stellenbosch, June of 2022, the future directors of Moto-Royale would meet, and so sprouted a business partnership that would culminate in Royal Enfield’s official and permanent return to South Africa.
The People Behind Moto-Royale
The shareholders of Moto-Royale Corporation are a motley crew of diversity, however, Prof. Adheesh Budree, Sabrina Schoeder, and Ray & Adam McCallum share the golden thread of entrepreneurialism and love for the Royal Enfield brand, its history, and what it encompasses to the biking community; the spirit of adventure through life.

The Journey to Becoming an Official Distributor
From late 2022, the Moto-Royale partners began engagements with Royal Enfield’s Karthik Kumar, regional manager for Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. It was in early 2024 that business plans, investment, and rollout strategy were agreed upon and then ratified, so as a proud new distributor, Moto-Royale’s first orders were placed so that homologation could commence for a 2025 official launch.
A Tribute to the Royal Enfield Community
As much as this is a story of Royal Enfield and Moto-Royale, the greater part of this tail is that of the South African Royal Enfield riders, the wonderful community, and fellowship that kept the brand alive over all the years and the very people that so graciously supported us at Moto-Royale to pursue this endeavor. The true inspiration of it all is to those who rode Royal Enfield’s before this story came to be, and to all those who will ride with us from this point onward.

Building a Community, Not Just a Brand
Introducing the Royal Enfield Riders Club
To end off, and back to our riders and people.
Our goals are not that of hitting sales targets and making profits, we as Moto-Royale want to grow a vibrant community around this amazing brand that has been so good to us, and return the favor so to speak. So as we ride over the mid-year hump, we are excited to announce the initial rollout of our Royal Enfield Riders Club.

Join the Family
When you own or buy a Royal Enfield, often the bike becomes part of the family, with the Riders Club, you will become part of ours and we look forward to the adventures that lie ahead with you all.

Hey Lerato,
The Scram 440 is a non-International bike and limited to India.
What’s the best one for short riders? Im 1.52cm. Not a lot of bikes for us shorties.
The Hunter 350 has a low profile and seat, will be an easy ride for yourself.
