Another Sunday, Another Great Ride: 25 Bikes to Harvard Café

Around 25 motorcycles, 30 people and one fantastic Sunday ride to Harvard Café! Good roads, great food and even better company: another reminder that Synergy Social Rides is about much more than just motorcycles.

Synergy Racing Academy’s October Social Ride, 25 October 2026

There’s just something about our monthly Social Rides that I really enjoy. Maybe it’s seeing all the familiar faces again, meeting a few new people or simply getting everyone together for a Sunday morning out on the bikes. Whatever it is, I always look forward to them.

This past Sunday was no different. We met at TotalEnergies, The Gate in Centurion, at 07:30, with our departure planned for 08:00. By the time we were ready to leave, we had around 25 motorcycles joining us for the ride. It was lovely seeing so many of our regular riders again, and just as nice having a few new faces along for the morning.

The long way to Harvard Café

Our destination was Harvard Café in Germiston, but as usual, we weren’t about to take the most direct route there. What’s the fun in that when you’re on a motorcycle? We took the scenic route, and it turned out to be a really enjoyable ride.

Twenty-five bikes, one group

With around 25 bikes in a group, things can get a little interesting if everyone decides to do their own thing. Fortunately, our riders were brilliant. As always, we had one of our instructors leading the group and another riding sweep at the back. Everyone kept their place in the group, maintained our staggered formation and rode together really well.

And I must say, it’s such a pleasure when that happens. Nobody needs to prove how fast their bike can go, nobody needs to push past anyone and there’s no reason to turn a relaxed Sunday ride into a competition. We’re all there for the same reason: to enjoy being on our motorcycles.

You’ve already got something in common

One of the things I enjoy most about these rides is the mix of people who join us. We have our regulars who hardly ever miss a ride, and then there are always a few new riders who decide to come along. Before you know it, people are chatting about bikes, swapping stories and getting to know one another.

That’s the nice thing about the motorcycle community. You don’t have to ride the same bike, have the same amount of experience or even know anyone when you arrive. You’ve already got something in common.

What our Social Rides are about

And although we organise these rides through Synergy Racing Academy, they’re not training sessions. They’re simply an opportunity for riders to get together, enjoy a good route and spend a Sunday morning doing something we all love.

Of course, riding safely and looking out for one another is always important, especially when travelling in a larger group. But when everyone works together as they did on Sunday, it makes the whole outing that much more enjoyable.

For me, that’s really what our monthly Social Rides are about. Good people, good roads, a destination to look forward to and a chance to spend a few hours away from the usual daily routine. Nothing complicated. Just a bunch of people who love motorcycles, enjoying a Sunday morning together.

And judging by the turnout, I’m clearly not the only one who enjoys these mornings!

Until the next ride, keep the rubber side down and enjoy every kilometre.
